Join the fun - be a docent!

The Landmarks Society is always in need of new docents. If your passion is local history, and you'd like to share it with visitors, this is your big chance. Docents work either Wednesday, Saturday, or Sunday from 1 to 4 pm, or if you like you can be on our substitute list and called only if needed.

DO YOU LIKE PLAYING WITH TRAINS? WE NEED YOU!

Want to learn more about the history of your community!  The Landmarks is looking for individuals or couples (parents & students teams O.K too!.) to work as Docents at the Tiburon Railroad & Ferry Depot Museum on one Saturday a month from 1-4pm.  This fun opportunity for anyone who is interested in the history of the area and especially those with an interest in trains and railroads. Work as a docent and share this great building and the history of the Northwestern Pacific railroad system with local and out of town visitors  The Tiburon Railroad and Ferry Depot Museum is a rare and informative museum that attracts both young and old alike! Docent responsibilities include:

  • Greeting visitors as they arrive in the Railroad Museum
  • Touring visitors through the ground floor displays & detailed HO scale railroad model depicting Tiburon's railroad in the early 1900s
  • Touring visitors through the upstairs stationmaster quarters
  • Answering general questions on the history of the Belvedere/Tiburon and on the Northwestern Pacific Railroad.

No experience required!  Each docent will by trained by our railroad specialist Railroad Grand Master, Phil Cassou prior to becoming a docent..  We will also have suggested reading for those really interested in becoming well versed in the Museums history!

Landmarks provides tours of the SS China and the Tiburon Railroad Ferry Depot Museum to local school children as part of their history programs.
